Controversial Corner

Controversial Corner #2

Controversial corner is the part of the show where we share a question (perhaps a controversial one), we gather answers from our listeners and share some of them on the podcast. You can listen to Episode #7 here to listen to the second lot of answers, but this blog post features every answer we’ve received on the subject, and they are definitely worth a read.

This week’s question!

The question this week is:

1). “A sandwich needs to have two distinct pieces of breading. A hotdog is closer to the wrap family than sandwich family” – We got Balls Podcast.

2). “A taco is a sandwich. So yes” – The Dark Rum Podcast

3). “It’s a hotdog it’s neither of the above!!” – Dannielle

4). “Much more of a sandwich than a taco.” – Stew World Order

5). “Sandwich, piece of meat in between 2 buns. And a taco is really an open face burrito.” – WDRP

6). “Neither. It’s a sausage roll.” – Ronzilla

7). “Definitely not a taco! Or a sandwich, really” – Beauty unlocked Podcast

8). “Sandwich? But we’re not confident in that statement” – Our Cynic Culture

9). “Definitely not a taco. Think about it, a corndog is not a taco. Also “The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) describes a sandwich as “a meat or poultry filling between two slices of bread, a bun, or a biscuit.” – The flight attendant Podcast

10). “I lean more towards taco…” – My 1 cent Podcast

11). “Sandwich I guess” – Court Case Podcast

12). “It’s a roll surely?” – Marv (Pods Like Us)

13). “Eric Mittenthal, president of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council:

“A hot dog is not a sandwich,” he said. “If you go to a hot dog vendor and you say give me a sandwich, they’re going to look at you like you’re crazy. It’s just culturally not the same as a sandwich.”

The hot dog, he explains time and again, is in a classification of its own.

“In essence it boils down to a hot dog is its own unique item that exceeds the sandwich category. It breaks itself free of the sandwich category. People love to argue with us, but no, a hot dog is not a sandwich,” Mittenthal said.

14). “Taco for certain!!!” – Jess

15). “It’s literally called a hot dog sandwich.” – Yamilotus
