Description: The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod introduces a simple yet effective morning routine known as the S.A.V.E.R.S. method (Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing) designed to transform your life. By dedicating time each morning to these practices, readers can improve their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, ultimately leading to increased productivity and success in all areas of life. Elrod’s book has inspired millions to wake up earlier and start their day with purpose and positivity.

As mentioned in another post, ‘How positive affirmation can banish self-doubt,’ Hal Elrod’s The Miracle Morning was the first place I learned about self-affirming.

However, this book offers so much more than that and has helped thousands of people change their lives. If you’re sceptical about self-help books, then you may find this book hard to swallow in places. I must admit there were occasions where I felt it was a little preachy (especially around religion). For a non-religious person like myself, this can sometimes be difficult to see past. Regardless of your religious beliefs, there’s something for everyone in this book, and you don’t have to follow religion to use it.

Hal Elrod: The Miracle Morning

The opening chapters of the book talk specifically about Hal and his rollercoaster life. When Hal was just 20 years old, the vehicle he was driving in collided with a truck. The truck driver had been speeding and was drunk. Hal’s car was pushed into oncoming traffic and was hit again side-on by another vehicle.

Emergency teams raced to the scene and attempted to free Hal from the mangled vehicle, and eventually, they succeeded. Once Hal was cut out from the destruction, he began to bleed out, his heart stopped beating, and he was no longer breathing. Hal was clinically dead. He was immediately placed onto a rescue helicopter, and paramedics worked diligently to save his life. Hal was dead for a total of six minutes until paramedics were able to revive him successfully, nothing short of a miracle.

Hal spent the next six days in a coma and woke to the news that he may never walk again. Hal’s condition was severe; he had permanent brain damage and had fractured eleven separate bones.

Mind over matter

Hal began to accept his new life. He stopped thinking about why this had happened to him, stopped thinking about how his life should be, and embraced how things were.

Hal’s mindset shifted; he had to take responsibility for getting his life back on track. Hal spends his time fulfilling his potential and achieving his dreams, so he can empower others to do the same.

Hal used this moment of trauma and his accident to 100% focus on making the best of what he had. He dedicated his time to becoming a better version of himself. Hal calls this his ‘triumphant comeback’.

The new Hal

At this stage, you might be thinking did Hal ever walk again?

“Not only did Hal walk, he went on to become an ultra-marathon runner (running 52 miles in one day to raise money for charity), a hall of fame business achiever (at age 26), an international motivational keynote speaker and success coach, a hip-hop recording artist, and author of the #1 best-selling book that has over 250 five-star Amazon reviews and is being widely regarded as “one of the most life-changing books ever written”.

Hal is undoubetdly an amazing individual, to come back from such aversity is miraculous. He didn’t use excuses or dwell on the past, and even his physical barriers didn’t stop him. If Hal can overcome life-changing injuries, you can overcome your barriers too, and that’s what the Miracle Morning sets out to achieve.

Create the life you want to live

I don’t want to go into too much detail about the book because I would like you to read it for yourself and develop your understanding. Many people may use the book differently. Some may only use a handful of the steps, and others may use it religiously, and that’s fine.

“You must first dedicate time each day to becoming the person you need to be, one who is qualified and capable of consistently attracting, creating, and sustaining the levels of success you want”.

The Miracle Morning is a 60-minute 6-step challenge to develop your personal self and create the life you want to live. Hal calls these 6 steps his Life S.A.V.E.R.S:

S – Silence

A – Affirmations

V – Visualise

E – Exercise

R – Read

S – Scribe

I’m not going to delve into these because it’s, of course, not my book. What I can say is that by incorporating these steps into your morning (whatever morning may be for you) routine, you are heading in the right direction to be able to achieve. Hal provides step-by-step instructions on exactly what to do. Think you can’t do it? Isn’t Hal himself living proof that it can be done?

My highlights

I tend to read most of my books on my Kindle, and I love the ability to be able to highlight passages of text that inspire me in some way.

The following are highlights from The Miracle Morning that have resonated with me in some way.

“One of the saddest things in life is to get to the end and look back in regret, knowing that you could have been, done, and had so much more“.

Don’t let the fears, insecurities, and limiting beliefs of others limit what’s possible for you”.

The degree to which you accept responsibility for everything in your life is precisely the degree of personal power you have to change or create anything in your life”.

Always seek people who will add value to your life and bring out the best in you. And of course, be that person for others”.

Overall thoughts and opinion

As I think I’ve probably alluded to multiple times, this book is something that I think anybody should read. If you may be struggling with finding the motivation to accomplish your goals and dreams, then you should read it. It’s not just a book about how to find motivation, but it’s a book of hope and courage. It’s a personal story of how someone who has hit rock bottom multiple times has come back fighting.

The Miracle Morning features a simple programme that anyone can follow, which doesn’t require any specialist knowledge or materials.

If you want to change your mindset and routine and become the best version of yourself, then this is worth reading.

If you are sceptical about self-help books, I still compel you to read this one because it has something of value for everyone.

Don’t just take my word for it. Check out the sample below and visit Hal’s website here.
